2nd Fire of the Day: Truck 28 & Engine 48 run First Due House Fire on 6135 Princess Garden

 December 23, 2012

pAt 1227 p.m.nbspEngine 48 and Trucknbsp28nbspwerenbspdispatchednbspto 6135 Princess Garden Parkway in 48s first due for the house fire. Knowing the area and time of day we all knew we were going tonbsphave work on this one.ppTruck 28 arrived firstnbspto find a two storynbspsingle family homenbspwith heavy fire showing from the rear on the 1st andnbsp2nd floor. Engine 482 arrived dropped a split lay at the driveway and got an attack line in place. Once the front door was open and the thick black smoked pumped out it was clear the amount of fire we were dealing with. Chief 48A Miller arrived and established Command and now seeing fire showing from 3 of the 4 sides of the house requested and extra engine and truck and put all the crews to work that were on the scene.nbspWest Lanham crews made an aggressive push into the home and were met withnbspheavynbspfire and flashovernbspconditions.nbspThe Enginemennbspmade another aggressive push into thenbspblazing homenbspknocking thenbspflamesnbspback and gaining control of the firenbspwhile the men from Truck 28 conductednbspsearches opened up and threw ladders.nbspWith the crews working together the bulk of the fire was knocked in less than 10 minutes.brbrCommand held Engine 482 and one other engine for water supply and Truck 28 along with the special services for overhaul of the old sturdy plaster lath walls and ceilings. The home owner was not home at the time of the incident and the fire is still under investigation. No injuries were reported and units cleared the scene about 230pm with time to watch the end of the Skins win and catch the Ravens kickoff for their win. brbrbrnbspp
