Chief Simmons located the victim in a hospital bed. Firefighter Nolte placed himself and his hose line between him and the victim. Firefighter Nolte continued to knock down the fire while the rescue team of Assistant Chief Simmons and Firefighters Pacheco and Long removed the victim from her bed and fire conditions. Obstacles throughout the room and the condition of the patient made this rescue challenging. Sergeant Kennedy notified command by radio that a victim had been located and a rescue was underway. There was great coordination and assistance from the additional first responders on the scene.
